Frans Kaisiepo Our Stop at Port Said


June 19, 2011, Cairo (Embassy in Cairo): After successfully carrying out its mission as part of the Maritime Task Force UN Peacekeeping Force in South Lebanon (Maritime Task Force / MTF-UNIFIL), Ships of the Republic of Indonesia (KRI) Frans Kaisiepo-368 stopped at Port Said Egypt before traveling back to Indonesia.

In Port Said, Cairo Embassy Defence Attache, Colonel (Sea) R. Isgunanto firm along with KRI Frans Kaisiepo Commander, Lieutenant Colonel (Sea) Wasis Priyono, ST held a reception on board on Saturday night, June 18, 2011 to appreciate the success of the KRI well off his departure back to Indonesia.

The event was attended by Commander Naval Base in Port Said Egypt, Maj. Gen. Abdul Aziz along with his staff, Defence Attache of the dozens of friendly countries such as Japan, South Korea, Argentina, Brazil, as well as a number of embassy officials Cairo.

Charge d'Affaires Ad Interim Embassy in Cairo, Burhanuddin in his speech that the KRI Frans Kaisiepo has succeeded in carrying out the tasks entrusted in Lebanese waters. It is not only due to technical capabilities possessed ships, but also because of the spirit and profesionalieme owned the crew who manned KRI.


Meanwhile, KRI Frans Kaisiepo Commander, Lieutenant Colonel (Sea) Wasis Priyono, ST describes the achievement of the operation during an eight-month assignment. Also noted that Indonesia is proud to serve the mission with very good long-serving in UNIFIL MTF.

Trust and the award was also given the task of the UN on the implementation of KRI Frans Kaisiepo. This is indicated by the extension of the task should KRI from six months to eight months.

Presented also that Indonesia would then send back its warships, namely KRI Sultan Iskandar Muda-367 will mengggantikan KRI Frans Kaisiepo duty in Lebanon.

During the performance of duties as a UN peacekeeping force in Lebanon, KRI Frans Kaisiepo-368 has been doing duty as the MIO (Maritime Interdiction Operations) as much as 18 times, inspect the vessel 1405, filed a ship inspection examination and a total of 170 times at sea for 180 days.
